Audiot to run through whole show

Okay, I feel like I should know this . . . but how do I get an audio file to
run throughout an entire slide show?. Does it HAVE to be a .WAV file?
I link mp3s but they stop when I change slides. I know there is a way of
doing this. . .isn't there?
