Auto capitalization

Using a template created in Word 97, now using in Word 2003. Initial capitalization is turned on

I know that auto cap now doesn't work after numbers. I have the on again, off again problem of it not working after words also. Sometimes I get the green squigglies, sometimes I don't. I had this problem in 97; thought it would be solved by 2003. Because the template was originally a 97 template, am I just carrying over the problem?

Thanks for any help with this problem ..

Go to Tools | AutoCorrect Options and click the Exceptions... button. If you
still have "Automatically add words to the list" checked, you'll probably
find a *lot* of undesired "exceptions" in the list. Clear that check box (on
each tab) and then go through and weed out the entries on each tab that
don't belong.

I have done as you suggested; however, there weren't any unusual words in any of the lists, just the normal ones like Mon., Tue., ibid., etc. I didn't find any undesired exceptions. I have cleared the boxes though. Any other ideas what could be causing this? It sure is annoying!
