How can I get rid of the irritating Auto Fill Options thing which pops up
and gets in the way when I drag down to fill down?

Thanks

Go to the Excel menu>Preferences>Edit and remove the check for Allow Cell
Drag and Drop. Unfortunately that disables _both_ Drag & Drop and AutoFill.

You might consider leaving them active as they don't interfere as long as
your pointer has the bold white cross appearance when you click and hold to
drag. There are also a number of much more effective ways to select multiple
cells rather than dragging... especially for large ranges.

If you prefer dragging, it may also help if you either lower your resolution
(less than 1024x768) or increase your View (zoom) to something higher than
100%... Small cells make it that much more of a problem.
