Auto Preview Failure

I am using IE 6 and OE 6 and XP Home.

Until a few days ago, when I clicked on a newsgroup alt.binaries file, the
..jpg attachment would open (auto prevew?). Now, when I click on an file,
the header appears in the preview pane and the attachment icon (paperclip)
is displayed. To view the .jpg attachment I have to click on the icon and
then choose either to view the .jpg file or save the file.

In OE, I have tried View/layout/disabling Preview Panel and re-enabling it
without any success.

Searching google.com I have read some "solutions" that suggest re-instaling
IE, OE, both and or registry changes. I am hoping that someone out "there"
might have a simpler solution.

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)
