AutoArchive VS. PST

Dear All,

I am haveing Exchange Enviroment Here in My Network.

All of my users i convert them from using mailbox to use Personal Folder,
and all of the E-mails will be stored locally on the client PC as per our
company Policy.

Now, i want to understand the difrrent between using Personal Folder &
Autoarchive. ?

If i disable the AutoArchive, and depending on the PST, do you think i am
correct or is there any Problem ?

if i did not using Personal folder & used Mailbox, and enable autoarchive,
what is the different between the PST & Autoarchive, ?

3- what will happen if i lost the Pst file, can i use the Autoarchive file
instaed of it ?

thanks & Best Regards,
Medo

Depends on what you are trying to achieve.

1) Just curious; Why invest in Exchange and then still continue to use
pst-files?

2) Personal Folders are data files to store Outlook Data in (E-mails, Tasks,
Calendars items, Notes, etc...). AutoArchive also uses a pst-file to store
its data in. AutoArchive is used to devide recent items from archived items
automatically. Like the name already says; it's for archiving purposes.

3) Correct in what? Yes, you can disable AutoArchive by using Group Policy

4) You would keep your archived items out of your default delivery location
(either Exchange mailbox or a pst-file)

5) No, AutoArchive is not a back-up. Either make Exchange back-ups (when
using mailboxes) or make pst-file back-ups when using pst-file;

Medo - please see the many replies you have to this identical post ("Urgent
Help") in microsoft.public.exchange.admin. Please don't multipost - it
(even inadvertently) wastes everyone's time. If you need to post to multiple
groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a single message to a
handful of relevant groups (separate the NG names with commas) so that
everyone can follow the thread. Thanks :)
