Automatic TOC numbering un-numbered pages

M

MDA

I'm using MS Word 2003. When I insert an automatic TOC, page numbers appear
for pages in a section of the document that does not contain page numbers.
How do I solve this problem?

NOTE: The actual pages in the section are not numbered.

Thanks for any help!

The nature of a TOC is to identify where information is placed using a
page number.

When you insert a TOC the Heading style associated with the paragraph
is picked up and the page number is referenced. This is an internal
reference, what you see in the status bar, not a page number field
placed in the Header/Footer layer.

So if you do not want to include a section in the TOC then remove the
Heading style associated with the paragraph. I'd create another style
that uses the same formats as the Heading style currently assigned to
the paragraph and use it instead.
