Automatically block sender?

T

Tom

Any way to automatically block the sender as it goes into the junk file? I
only accept safe mail, but then have to manually block the sender. I keep
getting hit with the Microsoft update virus. Thank you,
Tom

Can you permanently delete the sender? Outlook does not "block senders" - it
moves received mail to the folder of your choice but it cannot prevent mail
from reaching your inbox.

Office 2003 Pro allows you to left click on the sender, choose junk mail,
then choose "block sender". The item is there, its just to automate it
would be helpfull. I can and do delete the items in my junk file. Outlook
catches all the junk mail, but once there, I still have to go in and
manually block the sender. It's time consuming. Thanks for the reply
though, if you have any idea how to do this, I'd appreciate it.

It would have been nice if you had mentioned the version of Outlook that you
are using. It would have greatly changed the context of my answer.

OK, so what is your answer? I get hit with over 100 unwanted emails per
day. Your help is greatly appreciated.

You can create rules that will catch certain key words used in these mails,
like "Inet" and "M$" and the like. Create the rule, use the Permanently
Delete Option, use the Stop Processing More Rules and put it at the top of
your rules.

Also, to address the person peering out the barn door at the dust the horse
is leaving in its wake, Never Post using your real email address to a news
group. There are bots that sniff these groups looking for good addresses to
use. Mine draws about 25-30 each day but I have told legit senders of a new
mail address to use for me. The mvps.org address is now a spam-bucket.

Milly,
You are a real asset to the Microsoft Corp. I realize that Outlook is
limited with the "block sender" option. Your rhetorical comment is
outstanding. Thanks for the help, and have a great new year.

A. I don't work for Microsoft - none of the MVPs do as we are all
volunteers.
B. Thanks and I hope your new year is a prosperous one as well.
