Backing up and restoring a PST

I have a pst file at work that I want to put onto CD. So, I burn the pst
file to a CD-R. When I go to open it, it says it is read only. I check the
file on our network and it is not read only but the file on the CD-R is read
only and I don't have permissions to save it. How can I get it so that I can
view this file? Thanks.

All files on CD-R[OM] are read-only. It is, after all, CD-ROM which means
"compact disc, read-only media". You need to copy the file to media that
permits write access to the file, like copying it to your hard drive, a Zip
disk, a USB memory stick drive, a floppy, or to whatever provides WRITE
access to files. After copying the file from the read-only media to the
write-capable media, be sure to remove the read-only file attribute.
Outlook demands that it have write access to the PST file (because it has no
way of knowing that you only want to read the file's contents and do not
want to write to the file).
