Backward Publishing Website

Changes were made to our website live. I have backwards
published the website to our server so we would have a
current copy. Now when I open the file it still opens the
website live, so all our changes are still being made
live. Here's the question. If something happened to our
website on our hosting companies website, would we have a
copy of the site?

Not unless the hosting company has a backup, or you continually publish the
live site to your local computer whenever you make changes.

Why are you not making the changes on the local machine then publishing to
the host?
