Backwards compatibility

I am wondering is Office 2003 is backwards compatible with Office 2000. That
is, if I created documents in Word 2000, will I be able to open them in Word
2003?

Thanks in advance

Office 2003 can open Office 2000 documents. Office 2000 can open
Office 2003 documents with a small caveat. Any 2003 features in a
document will be ignored by 2000. If you then save in 2002 the
document that was created in 2003, those new feature elements are lost
but the rest of the document is fine.
