Baseline work

Hi...
In '03 Pro is there a way of setting a default to save the baseline work as
well as duration so it will be available in the variance table view?
Thanks
John

Hi John,

When you save a baseline, baseline work is automatically saved. Add the
Baseline Work field to the variance table or view the Work table to see
Work Variance.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

The process is manual, by clicking Tools - Tracking - Save Baseline. You
must make this a training and performance issue with your PMs. After
planning a project completely, and before they enter actuals, your PMs
should save a baseline in their projects. Stress the importance of this for
variance analysis purposes, and then hold them accountable for this
behavior. Hope this helps.

Thanks to you both for a quick response. I must have something set up wrong...
I enter a task & duration (2 days), then tools->tracking->save baseline;
view->table->variance: baseline duration=2 days, baseline work=0 ???
Thanks

Do you have a resource assigned?

Hope this helps.

Well, the work calculated by MSP will really depend on the task type and if
it is effort driven.

I'm an MCT for MS Project 2007 so I actually do the training :)
Plus I have been using MSP for the last 10+ years. It can be tricky to
remember this basic axim, especially for new Project users.

Just remember this formula:

Work=Units (assignment) X duration.

Good luck!

Hi Christine...that did it! thanx...where did you get you training on how
MSoft thinks? I thought 2 days was 16 hours until multiple resources were
added.
ciao
