Basic Features Needed ASAP - please help

Here's a challenge for you. I need to do 2 very basic things for my boss immediately. First, I must simply make the calendar view to show the name of the task to be started, and the number of hours assigned. In other words, I might have the task "write financial report" that begins on March 1 and will take 20 hours to complete, and I simply want to see "write financial report 8 hrs" on the calendar view for March 1. For purposes of this particular point, please keep in mind that I'm using this for a particular specific purpose where I don't want to know about all of the start, finish, duration, hours in a work week, etc. but rather simply want to be able to edit the calendar view so that it only shows each task on it's start date, with the whole name of the task (not shortening the name of the task to 2 or 3 letters simply because it is a 2 hour task vs. an 8 hour task) - i.e., I want to see the name of the task not have it be some sort of gannt bar that shrinks to the point where the task is unreadable when I reduce the time of the task. Also, I need to be able to either 1) import a list of tasks making all tasks "recurring" or be able to change tasks to "recurring" after I import them from my spreadsheet. Can anyone please help?

To edit my question a bit, I meant to say that it was an 8 hour task. Also, the 2nd part about the recurring entry has already been answered by someone else. I just need to know how to make a task appear in the calendar view along with the number of "work hours" regardless of the duration of the task. In other words, I might have an 8 hour task that must be started on March 1 and completed sometime before June 1. All I want to see in the calendar view is, on March 1 only, the full name of the task (not truncated) and the number of work hours (8) not the "duration." Can it be done? Thanks.

Assuming P2000+

Calendar view display problem:

View | Calendar
Format | Bar styles ... this will display the Bar Styles dialog

Under "Task type" select 'All'.

Look for the outlined box named "Text". You will see a field named
"Field(s)". If you use the dropdown arrow to the right, you can select a
specific field. If you want to show several fields then you must select the
first field and type a comma, then select the next field and type a comma,
then select the third field and so on. You can also simply type the names
in separate them with commas. You probably want Name (the task name) and
Duration.

Importing recurring tasks.

I don't believe this is possible.

This is a great help - thanks! As a follow up question, I have inserted a number of recurring tasks into my calendar, because most of the items repeat either weekly, monthly or quarterly, or yearly. Suppose I have an item called "make 941 deposit." As mentioned above, I want it to show as "Make 941 deposit - 1 hr" (or something to that effect). I will try your technique to add in the display of the "1hr" to "Make 941 deposit." However, it is currently showing up as "Make 941 deposit 1" (and 2, 3, 4, etc. since it tags each recurring task with the number of the recurrence). While it makes sense that project would need to have a counter for the number of each recurrence to know when to stop, it is fairly cumbersome to have the counter in the printed description that appears on the calendar. It will be particularly distracting if I am able to get the "1hr" to appear along with the "Make 941 deposit" text, because then it will look something like
"Make 941 deposit 1hr 7" which just doesn't look right. Can you help?

Sure!

Assume you have a recurring task "Meeting". Expand that task so you can see
all the instances of it (Meeting 1, Meeting 2, etc.). Click on the cell
containing the word "Meeting" and then drag the lower right corner of that
cell downwards until you have selected all of the instances. Release the
mouse button.
