Bestbuy Powerpoint 2003 does not work with new dell xp

I bought a dell computer with preinstalled software-has xp, ms office word
2003 with outlook, excell,word -does not have powerpoint--went to BB bought
upgrade 2003 pp --tryed to install- computer says can't fine previous
office-insert office disk-still does not work-downloaded servicepack 3-no
worky--help---Oatsy

Unfortunately, you probably will need to buy the full version of
PowerPoint, not an upgrade. The version of Office that you have does not
contain PowerPoint and does not qualify for the upgrade. For more
