Bizarre header behaviour with table

J

Jennifer Gan

I have a document with three identical tables in it. The
first table was copied and pasted to create the other
tables. Each table starts on a new page.

However, the 3rd table has a large space above it, which I
cannot get rid of. The space is actually in the header,
which is much larger than the header on all the other
pages. It only happens above the first row of this third
table. When the third table wraps onto a new page, the
header is back to normal.

I went into the header and tried deleting the space but
there is nothing there. I tried adjusting the header size
using the vertical ruler but then the header just took up
the entire page no matter what I did.

When I cut and paste the table into a new document, the
same thing happens.

Any idea what's going on and what I can do to make my
document look less stupid?

Thanks
Jennifer

Have you checked to see whether the header has any space
before or after in the formatting? You can check this by
highlighting the text, going into Format, Paragraph,
Indents and Spacing. The default is 0 for Before and After
and single line spacing under Line spacing.

If you'd like to send me a small sample of the problem document (to my
email--don't post it here!), I'll take a look.
