Black image in Word2k

Hi,

I am using MsWord 2000. I have few scanned images. When I try to
insert one of the image into a blank word document using menu:
Insert->Picture->From file.
The image appears half black.

I checked with the scanning operator, the scanning is automatic and
daily thousands of documents are scanned. Well the interesting part is
when I used another pc with Word 97, I manage to get clear image after
insert.

Does anyone have faced similar problem before?
Any guidance or tricks will be very helpful.
