blocked file access & bad mouse clicks

1. I am using windows xp pro and office xp (2002). When I load Excel and
try File->Open->Look in: and select Local Disk (C:), the C: directories do
not appear. This also happens with Word and PowerPoint. Everything is fine
with Notepad, Wordpad and VC6. Help!

2. When running Excel or PowerPoint, a left mouse click produces the Edit
popup menu. This does not happen in any non-office application. I don't
think the problem is with my Microsoft Wireless optical mouse since it works
in other programs. In Excel I need to double left click before I can change
any cell and the popup menu obscures adjacent cells. Help!
