Blue signature graphic prints red

I scanned my signature using by Brother multi-function
printer/scanner. I used a graphics program to crop it, then pasted it
into a Word 2007 document. On the screen, it looks blue, which is the
ink I used to make it. But when I print it, it prints as red.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get it to print the same color as
on the screen?

What kind of color printer are you using? One color cartridge or more? Any
chance you're just low on blue ink/toner?

OMG, am I embarrassed.

I just had the cartridges refilled, so I was sure they were full,
which they are.

But your suggestion got me thinking. I had been buying the horribly
expensive Canon cartridges when a friend told me that her husband buys
ink by the gallon and can refill them for free. What a deal. So I took
my almost empty cartridges over and he refilled them using a syringe.
He had to drill a little hole, which he then plugged with a little
rubber stopper.

The printer had been printing fine until yesterday. Anyway, I just
reseated the cartridges and then printed a page of blue characters.
The first line was red, but each line became more and more blue.

Now I'm not sure what happened. Is the replacement ink not the same
quality? Are the cartridges only designed to be used once and get
clogged if reused? Did the cartridge somehow become unseated by
itself?

Anyway, it's printing fine now, so I'll watch it.

Thanks for the spot on suggestion. I should have thought of that. ;-)

I was getting ready for you to say that your friend had inadvertently filled
the cyan cartridge with magenta. <g> As expensive as ink is, I've never
wanted to take a chance on cheap refills or off-brands. But then I don't use
my color printer much--almost all my printing is done on my monochrome
laser. I probably waste more ink with my printer's periodic maintenance
cycle than I actually use in printing.

I'm hoping that I just didn't push it in all the way and it worked
itself loose. The friend swears by the ink. He's an amateur
photographer and is always sending out greeting cards that he made
himself. He goes through a lot of ink and claims he has never had a
problem.
