Bolt on software for MSP ?

Andrew

I have seen various adverts and services from companies saying that they can
produce reports and "S" curves etc to be bolted on MSP. How do they get
access to information?. Is it something we can all have a go at ?

Thanks for replying. I will look at the products to see if any fit my
purpose. What I was trying to find out is : is there a way of accessing the
internal "database" within MSP so that you can manipulate the data yourself.
This way I would be able to produce the customised reports for myself.

Hi Andrew,

The answer is YES.
Personally I use Visual Basic for Applications which allows to access the
different objects of Project through a very elaborate library; VBA also
allows to connect to other Office software.
I read about other ways and means such as saving a plan as a data base and
reading/writing the data base but I'm not familiar with that.
Whic way do you think you would go?

Hi Andrew,

You can save a project file as an Access database and then use Access
for reporting. For an in-depth look at the database objects try
searching for the PjDb.HTM file (Project 2003) in the 1033 folder under
the Program Files. I haven't experimented with it in great detail.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
