Browse window causing crashes in Office 2007 on Vista

Whenever I try and add an attachment in OUtlook 2007 or "save as" in Word
2007 (for example), the programme stops responding and shuts down. I've
downloaded all available updates and have run a diagnostics check but without
any success. Would appreciate any advice or guidance.
