calculations; multiplying two columns

i added three custom colums. i wanted to be able to multiply the vaules in
two colums and put the answer in the third column. is this possible in
project?

Yes, use a formula in a custom field. Search project help for custom fields
and formula. If the two fields are Number1 and Number2 and you want the
result in Number3 the formula is:
=[Number1]*[Number2]

Formulae can only be added to custom fields.
