Calendar and Update question

C

ConsiderThis

Major distressed here. I don't use Office at all, except for the calendar
that came in it, and Word. It is extremely distressing that I have to keep
paying huge money when I have to buy a new computer because I have some brain
damage and could not handle the service pack 2 thing that needed to be done.
and now I'm supposed to pay a h*** of a lot more money to buy more OFFICE
just so I can use the things I really need??????

I just am so distressed. It was distressing the more than 14 months when I
couldn't do the update and so my computer was open to all sorts fo threats
and eventually it went down, and now I can't use my scheduler because the
Office in this new computer will go extinct in 2 months unless I pay the ever
so wealthy Gates a huge amount of my not so huge wealth to get this
ridiculous Office thing.

Can you tell that I hate this?

How can I use calendar without so much trouble? and I've been downloading
the service pack because it didn't come preinstalled on this new computer,
and the download is taking a huge amount of time and I bet anyhthing that in
the end, after all that time, it won't install unless I've paid the huge
money.

what could be more dispicable?

Perhaps dropping the rant, and describing the actual problem would
garner some assistance from the volunteers here.

I am so upset with the way microsoft behaves that the rant is essential. I am
just SOOOOO glad that the EU is fining microsoft for this kind of catch you
and do what you will with customers.

Let me see, you don't update your computer (or take it to a pro) so you lose
your OS and have to buy a new one. I would just reload the old one and save
some ranting there.

Then, you had an Office package but you got the trial and hate having to buy
it - guess what, you DON'T have to buy it. Download OpenOffice.org - oh,
that's right, since you couldn't be bothered to download SP-2, I guess the
download of Oo_O will also hack you off being just as long a download.

Listen, you use what you use voluntarily - last I saw, Microsoft does not
include a gun in its corporate logo. Make your choice and if you don't like
it, then change.

As for the EU, we will see what we will see. And I seriously doubt that
Microsoft will be on the losing end - how is that Windows XP-N thing
coming???

Hi Milly,
XPN???? If that means something to you, it means nothing to me.

Yup, real hard to take computers places when you have tetanus. And by the
way, it doesn't just lock the jaw... it locks all the muscles. And, with
underlying brain damage, it makes it almost impossible to do huge amounts of
stuff. But of course you can't understand that. I wanted to protect my
computer, but I didn't have any CDs and I couldn't back up and the Gateway
tech said that if I didn't back up, there was a possibility that the service
pack would wreck everything and I would lose it all. So... I just kept paying
my web hosting and keeping my web page out there so others might not get this
kind of brain damage that totally undoes ones world.

But you can't understand that. I just don't meet your standards.

Ha!

Okay, checked it out. Very interesting. Thank you very much.

They don't appear to have a calendar included, however, and I really need
the calendar to support my lack of memory.

By the way, I bought Word when I bought my first computer, which was a 5x8
inch screened Mac. I think I paid $300 for it. I paid $600 for PageMaker. My
computer cost $5,000 way back then.

And I bought some other things in between then and now. But I really object
to having to pay $200 for something that the preceding something caused my
computer to be vulnerable to web threats.

I'm amazed, actually, that you don't get that. When I have money, it makes
no difference. But with brain damage money is more tricky. And that's got to
be true for a huge number of people.

That's what I object to. Putting extra stress on people who are already
treading water.

By the way, you might want to check out my privy pit page... what I now know
is that it pays to keep a window cracked all winter, because there can be
sewer gas released into a home from the faulty install of toilets. Seriously.

Nope - you just set different standards. I protect my computers. If I had
to, and I don't, I would call a friend or a local professional to come by
personally and help with the computer.

Sorry, playing the disabled card doesn't fly with me. I have too many
friends who are "differently" enabled who get along just fine, don't have
problems, and certainly don't blame others for their problems or
shortcomings.

Grow up and take some personal responsibility and stop relying on hearsay
and underpaid Gateway technicians. And quit playing the pity card - too
many others have worse conditions than yours and have a better life outlook.

Oh, and XP-N - that is the Operating System designed by the European Union
that has sold less than OS/2 last year. One of their "last" effective
remedies to "curb" Microsoft. Since you have the time to rant, take the
time to read.

lol

The way that the brain functions, it is really easy to rant, and extremely
hard to do things that need to have more than one thing remembered at a time.

B

Bob I

You really need to see a professional, as your problems have absolutely
nothing to do with Office applications of Microsoft and certainly can't
be effectively addressed by a technical support group.

C

ConsiderThis

What are your credentials to make that assessment?

Or, does the truth about microsoft hurt? and you are lashing out.

B

Bob I

Credentials, lets see, I answer technical questions, this is an Office
newsgroup for answering technical issues about Office applications. Your
issue is not a technical one. Ergo you should seek appropriate
professional assistance elsewhere. Continuing this thread will not
correct your problem.

Good day

C

ConsiderThis

Ah, so you have no credentials to assess other kinds of professional help
needed.

That is exactly what I thought.

Please remember to stay on topic.
