Before purchasing Publisher I would like to know if it will do what I
require....I have to make a newsletter with a calendar as one of the pages. I
would like to make a custom calendar with recurring events. Some of the days
are full with events so I would like to be able to change he font of those
individual days.

You could not do all of that automatically in Publisher, but if you were
prepared to work to do it manually, the end result would be possible.
