Can I disable the "read-only" feature?

I am unable to save changes to my PowerPoint presentations. Even when I "Save
As" and change the name of the file, it still says the file is "Read-Only"
and will not let me save the changes. I use Windows XP Home. I have not had
this trouble on previous Windows versions.

If the file originated from a CD or other removable media, it will be Read Only.
Copy it to disk and then right click the file, select Properties, and uncheck
the Read Only attribute. Now open it in PowerPoint, edit and save to your
heart's content.
