Can I Do This With PowerPoint Interop?

Hello I need to be able to design an application that will open PowerPoint
documents, modify them (add text, graphics, etc...) and then save them. I
have done similar projects like this in the past, with Interop in Excel.

But with PowerPoint any sample videos or code always shows the end user
having PowerPoint open and launching the app via a custom task panel or
something like that. I know that with Excel this was not required.

So, is this what the difference is between "Document Level" customization
and "Application Level" customization as mentioned (but not explained very
well!) in VSTO documentation?

You see for my project, I need to be able to take inputs, apply them to new
(or pre-existing) PowerPoint documents, save the documents and then provide a
download link to them exposed on an asp.net website. Since the processing
will occur on a web server, it is not feasable to have end users to actually
"be there" to open PowerPoint and launch my code.

Is this possible?
