Can I have a "Finnish" keyboard but my default language as English

G

garciaho

I live in Finland, I have a Finnish keyboard, but I only write in English,
although I type very often Finnish names of persons and places, so the
keyboard does have a reason. I want to have English (U.K.) as default
language on all MS-office programs, and I don’t know how to do it. If I
change the settings on the “Details†box at the Languages tab on Regional and
Languages options, in the control panel, next time I open Word, for example,
it starts with English language. Good, but the keyboard setting are changed
and it makes me crazy to find the special keys. If I change, in Word, in the
Tools menu, Language, Set language, to English U.K. and click the “defaultâ€
tab, it warns me it is going to change the template, and I accept. But next
time I open Word, I’m back to Finnish again. If I open normal.dot template
and set the language (default) to English UK and save it, nothing happens.
I’m getting crazy…

Hi,

set your Win to English language and Finnish layout keyboard in Contro
Panel/Regional and Languages Options

If you go to Control Panel --> Regional and Language Options --> Keyboards
and Languages, you can add both the Finnish keyboard layout and the English
keyboard layout to supported keyboards. Then you'll notice a language bar
appear in the task bar, which will allow you to switch between the two
layouts as needed either by clicking the language bar or pressing alt+shift.
I hope I'm answering the question you were asking - if not, please post again.
