Can I insert links without paths into a master schedule?

When I insert project links into a master project, the link contains the
entire path (we are on a global network, so the path gets lengthy). When I
email the master and sub-projects to someone, their copy of the master
project cannot find the sub-projects because it is looking for the entire
paths of the originals. Is there a way to remove the path in the links and
have the master project look for the sub-projects only in the same directory
as the master?

This may also have been DMM's issue yesterday (Inserting existing projects
in one over-arching project).

I've done some more looking. The problem with the full path in the link is
when the linked tasks get changed. It is very hard to troubleshoot and
re-link the predecessors/successors when the path length exceeds the
character display limit. Can the path be removed so that just the filename
shows ahead of the task number?

This problem occurs when a third party updates their schedule and then
emails it to me (sometimes with a slight variation in the filename, which
compounds the issue). An example is that the master schedule is for an
entire project and the linked schedule is just for the engineering portion of
the project. The engineers update their schedule and send it to me. If
there are any changes to the task numbering, the linked tasks disconnect and
it is hard to troubleshoot when I cannot see the predecessors/successors
because of the length of the path and the display limits of the edit fields.

Hi,

As long as the projects and the master reside in a commmon directory, you
can move that directory and the links will auto-adapt.
