Can I install "some" Office 2000 components onto existing Office installation

Anyone (MVP!)

I purchased a Dell computer with MS Word 2000 and Works 6.0 installed.
Meanwhile, I have the complete Microsoft Office 2000 Pro suite.
Question: can I install 3 components (Excel, Powerpoint, Access) from
my O2K CD onto the existing Office installation without nuking
everything?? It "should" install the added programs into the same
Office folder that my existing Word 2000 is in, but.........? Please
advise! I'd hate to ruin a beautiful system that runs so well now.

So why not uninstall Works and install Office2k?
Or why not simply install Office? - word is the same version

Or failing all that use the custom install method and select appropriate
apps

After reading many postings on the hazards of uninstalling Works 6.0, I
would never do that! On my system, it ties into everything. Regarding
your suggestion about using the Custom installation for Excel, PPT, and
Access, that was my main question: is it really that flawless?
Installing these additional Office components may also write over many
of the installed features of my current Office configuration (which
"seems" to be only Word 2000) but there are many other Office
components scattered elsewhere.

But thanks for your comment. I thelps.

Hi,

I didn't see the rest of this thread, but I certainly do not recommend
mixing and matching Office versions and certainly not with Works. I
recommend full uninstall/reinstall.

I don't know what you mean by "write over many of the installed features
of my current installation". The WHOLE IDEA is to write over them, why
would you not want this?
