Can I install "some" Office 2000 components onto existing Office installation

Hi,

I didn't see the rest of this thread, but I certainly do not recommend
mixing and matching Office versions and certainly not with Works. I
recommend full uninstall/reinstall.

I don't know what you mean by "write over many of the installed features
of my current installation". The WHOLE IDEA is to write over them, why
would you not want this?

Gerry,
Perhaps I wasn't clear. I currently have Office 2000 installed on my
Dell from their factory, but only with the Word 2000 component. My
question is whether I can simply add Excel 2000, PPT 2000, and Access
2000 using my purchased Office 2000 Pro Suite ONTO the already
installed Office installation without any complications. I don't know
whether having Works 6.0 has any implication to this at all.

Please comment again. Your answer scared me!!

Word 200x is often included in a Works or Works Suite program. If you don't
have the other components included in Office (any version), I strongly
suspect you have Works or Works Suite, not Office 2000.

If you want to use your Office 2000 program, it is advisable to uninstall
Word from the Works Suite (usually a separate item in Add/Remove), reboot
(to clear the detritus) and then install Office 2000. Uninstalling any
Office (Word) program never deletes your data but it is always wise to make
a backup in case something hurls.
