In the section of the SDK entitled "Local and Enterprise Custom Fields",
it states that "You cannot use the PSI to create or interact with local
custom fields in projects."

Hence, you will need to migrate them to enterprise fields.

I can read the values of these local custom fields using PSI without
trouble. So what does the term 'interact' mean? What does it mean that
I can do and what does it mean that I cannot do? Can you be more
specific?

Popezilla,

Sorry for the delay in responding.

The "What the PSI Does Not Do" section of the SDK states: "Defining
local custom fields. However, the PSI does support editing local custom
field values on tasks, resources, and assignments."

If I recall correctly this means that you may view or edit Local Custom
Field values that are already defined on those entities, but you cannot
create new ones.

Also, best practice from both a deployment and development standpoint is
to use Enterprise Fields rather than Local Fields.
