can i make a powerpoint presentation open up only as a presention

how can I open a saved powerpoint presentation so that when it opens you can
only watch the presentation and not be able to see or do any editing asif you
opened the file up to change it? the reason for this is because i have
created a presentation for a friends birthday and i dont want her to be able
to change it, just be able to watch it without pressing F5

file > save as > change the "filetype" to "powerpoint show"

this gives the file a .PPS 3 letter extension instead of the regular .PPT
