Can I undo a picture compression after I have saved it?

I was making some changes to large photos I had using Microsoft Picture
Manager and accidentally compressed them all and saved the changes
unintentionally. Is there any way to undo this? Can I decompress these photos
or are they permanently of the low quality I saved them in?

no you can't retrieve pixes that are lost during compression/optimization.

you'll have to go back to the original source.
