Can MSP auto adjust the % of a resource?

Lets say I have 2 8hr task assigned to the same resource. Why cant I select
both task assign a start date of feb 1 and a finish date of feb 3 and have it
make both start and stop at the same time but do 50% on each.
Instead of doing the first 8hr task then the next 8hr task.
After all I selected the start date to be the same.

Hi Michael,

No, sorry.
Please be aware that today's guru of Project management, Gorldratt, stronly
advises in favour of doing the two sequentially, so Project is in line with
this advice.

Jan hit it on the head but adding a comment - you really shouldn't be
designating the start and end dates anyway. Project's job is to calculate
the start and end of the tasks for you, not just parrot back dates you're
guessing you can hit. Let it do it's job.
