can not use my icons n in power point,how can i get them to work

i can not use any icon buttons in powerpoint , they are grey istead of black.
How do i changhe them back to black and working

Are you in the Slide Sorter view or Edit view? (Slide sorter view offers
fewer active buttons/icons).
