Can Project import tasks from other MS Products?

My team is asking if MS Project can hold all the data a database could hold.
Task detail - who they called - when - follow-up notifications.

I don't know if this is possible with MS Project. I've only used Project for
scheduling.

Any comments or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Kim,

Project does have "spare" text fields (Text1 - Text30), as well as spare
Date, Number and Flag fields that you could use to record details.
Additionally, you certainly could hyperlink Word or Excel files into tasks in
Project. However, I think you'll find Project is very good a project
scheduling program, but doesn't have all of the features you may need for
tracking phone calls, reminders, etc.

I hope this helps.

According to the book "Mocrosoft Office Project 2007" by Teresa S. Stover,
Microsoft Press, ISBN 978-0-7356-2327-9, Chapter 3, pp 83-86 "You can make
Microsoft Project the central repository for all your important project
information."

This is done by copying, attaching, or hyper-linking objects to task notes.
This isn't quite the same as other full project management software
(Primavera Expedition, etc.), but could conceivably do the job. It would
certainly beat trying to find anything on my desk!
