Cannot access Office Live email from Outlook 2007

I have never used Outlook (or Outlook Express) before, so I may be using a
wrong procedure somehow. I recently installed Office 2007 and am attempting
to set up Outlook 2007. It will show my Office Live email account in Outlook
inbox, but will not open it and will not show any email items (which are in
the Office Live inbox). Outlook opens seemingly normally and seems to be
installed and functioning normally except for accessing email. Anyone have
any suggestions for me to look at?
