Cannot connect to Microsoft Project server from MS project professional

I get Microsoft SQL Server error when trying to connect to
Microsoft Project Server from Microsoft Professional..
The error message is something like this..

Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error:6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Named Pipes]Specified
SQL Server not found..

Could somebody please suggest a solution.
