doggies8

I use Windows 2000 Professional and Office 2003. Formerly on dial-up; in
Nov. 2005 went to satellite; now on Sprint DSL. Am individual and not on a
net-
work. My problems might have started when I went on satellite as other
problems came up. Am now on DSL, and my other problems cleared up, but I
still can-
not download the following updates:

They appear to be downloading; but when completed, dialogue states:
"Updates were unable to be successfully installed."

The following updates were not installed:
1. Update for Office 2003 (KB907417)
2. Update for Office 2003 French Spelling Checker and Thesaurus (KB892258)
3. Update for Office 2003 (KB885828)
4. Update for Office 2003 (KB887980)
5. Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter(KB905648)
6. Security Update for Word 2003 (KB887979)

They appear to be downloading; but when completed, dialogue states: Updates
were unable to be successfully installed.

My computer is set up for auto downloads, and this has been trying to
download for over a month; and I have tried numerous times to manually
download it and it always fails. Please help .. am nervous about not getting
current downloads.

Thank you

I have already done this. Again, they appeared to be loading; then noted
that the download failed. I have tried to download from several different
places. Always get the same message.

I did the detect and repair and Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003.
Got "Installation ended prematurely because of an error. Fatal error during
installation." What next? I did most of the Methods under troubleshoot,
nothing worked. Do I remove my entire Microsoft Office Professional Edition
2003 and reinstall? If I do this, will it create registration problems with
Microsoft .. or does that matter? Or, do I take computer in to my computer

Hi doggie8, if you're not confident to proceed any further with this problem, then by all means take
it to the computer store. You tried that's the main thing.

The next steps would have been a complete reinstall of Office and probably using the Windows
Installer clean up utility. You would need to have your product code and the original office cd. If
there were problems activating, you would be able to use the telephone option.

May I suggest that you back up any important documents etc before taking it to the computer store.

The easiest and cheapest way would be for you to uninstall Office and
reinstall it and most likely you wouldn't have many issues. If you had
registration issues there's a number to call at Microsoft.

Extract these files - LisTool.exe and LisTool.chm to a new folder of

the LISTOOL.exe.
Choose the Disable LIS option and click next. Select all the check boxes
in the subsequent dialog.
Then proceed to Finish.

===========================

I use Windows 2000 Professional and Office 2003. Formerly on
dial-up; in
Nov. 2005 went to satellite; now on Sprint DSL. Am individual and
not on a
net-
work. My problems might have started when I went on satellite as
other
problems came up. Am now on DSL, and my other problems cleared up,
but I
still can-
not download the following updates:

They appear to be downloading; but when completed, dialogue states:
"Updates were unable to be successfully installed."

The following updates were not installed:
1. Update for Office 2003 (KB907417)
2. Update for Office 2003 French Spelling Checker and Thesaurus
(KB892258)
3. Update for Office 2003 (KB885828)
4. Update for Office 2003 (KB887980)
5. Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter(KB905648)
6. Security Update for Word 2003 (KB887979)

They appear to be downloading; but when completed, dialogue states:
Updates
were unable to be successfully installed.

My computer is set up for auto downloads, and this has been trying
to
download for over a month; and I have tried numerous times to
manually
download it and it always fails. Please help .. am nervous about
not getting
current downloads.

Thank you
