cannot duplicate slide

i followed the instructions to duplicate the slide and cannot
there is no option in the layout gallery, to Duplicate Selected Slides.

What instructions did you follow?

If you select the slide in the slide pane on the left and hit Ctrl+D, it
should duplicate the slide.

Just make a Ctrl+D oàn the slide in the slide panel on the left

In the outline view, right click the slide you want to duplicate, and select duplicate slide from the drop down menu. always a good idea to mention the version of PowerPoint your playing with. The steps I mentioned are for 2007.
