I'm just completing a report and wanted to have a nice cover page. The premade templates in Word 2008 are ok, but when i click on some of the [click here to edit text] all i get is a formatting box. Very frustrating because I cannot edit two lines of text and finish my project!

Thank you!

Hi John -

A few of the Cover Pages placeholders are a little temperamental. Try
mousing around the "edge" of the problem placeholder until you see the
bounding box appear. The pointer will look like a white arrowhead wih tiny
black arrows at the tip when you're in the right spot. Click the boundary
then Control/Right+Click the same boundary & select Edit Text from the
shortcut menu.

Now why didn't I think of that! Thank you! Within two minutes I had done what I needed to do. Again, thank you!

This is for the developers, not tech support: Really, how is one expected to go from a simple template with an unworking [click here to edit text] to find that dancing thread of a white line while simultaneously click control / right arrow so that you can edit!? To start my car I rub two sticks together over the fuel injectors at a 63 degree angle and vroooom!

Glad it worked for you :) I fully agree with your sentiment, but you won't
find the dev team spending time in the newsgroups looking for criticism or
for something to keep them more busy than they already are :)

They *will* receive & consider your comments if you use Help>Send Feedback
on any specific issue. I've also submitted a bug on it from this end.

BTW - In all fairness I should have noted that some of the fields in Cover
Pages are designed to be completed automatically based on document
Properties, User Information, etc. That only accounts for some of the
problem boxes & there isn't anything that explicitly makes the user aware of
which ones auto-fill & which ones don't.
