I have a new PC and am trying to install MS Office Enterprise 2007 in
a windows Vista operating system. I insert the dvd-rom into the dvd
drive and nothing happens. I can view dvd-r and cd s in the drive and
when i insert the dvd into another PC with windows XP installed, the
disc is read ok and starts the installation process.

This will not be because you have Vista installed.

Can you navigate to the DVD drive using Explorer and read the files and
launch the installation manually?

If you cannot read the image, then it could be your DVD drive. Can you
mount another one over a network connection which can read it or can you
borrow an external one and use that?
