Cannot open file Office 2003 Virus detection

Error message MS EXCEL: "the file cannot be opened because your virus scanner
has detected a problem with the file"
Error message MS Word: "the file testfile.doc is not available"

These are the error messages I am receiving when trying to open any Office
2003 documents since installing "Symantic Antivirus Corporate Edition" after
my "Norton Anti Virus" licence expired....

The same files do not have viruses and open ok on other PCs. Access files
simply dont open and there is no error message.

I have Office XP Pro Sp2 with all latest updates installed....I have Office
2003 Pro and run Outlook 2003. Outlook 2003 runs withouit error to date.

I have unistalled both Office 2003 and Symantec AntiVirus and reloaded
Office 2003 without any virus scanning running and I still cannot open any
Office file. Even if I open a new document and save it - I caanot open the
newly saved file?

Reinstalling Symantec AntiVirus Corproate edition 8.00.xxxx does not solve
the problem. A complete virus scan prodcces no viruses yet Office inidcated
there is a problem.....

I think I have exhausted all possible solutions....

Any ideas?
