Cannot open task assignments

When I receive a task assignment or a reply to a task I've assigned, it
appears in my inbox, but I cannot open it. Outlook says "Cannot open this
item. Outlook cannot do this action on this type of attachment" I was using
outlook 2003 - installed outlook 2007 yesterday - it happens with both. Any
suggestions?
