Cannot receive messages from one sender.

I am using Outlook 2003 & Windows XP. My voicemail provider automatically
routes a copy of my voice messages to my email account. These come as a file
attachment to an email. They come from (e-mail address removed) (where the
numbers represent my voice mailbox phone number). I have set
(e-mail address removed) to be one of my "safe senders". This was working
fine until I did a Microsoft update last week. Since then, I have not been
able to receive these. I am sending & receiving other email just fine. As
an experiment, I re-routed these messages to another email account, and they
go there just fine. My ISP says it's not their issue, because I'm receiving
other emails OK. They also checked to see if this sender is on their spammer
list, and it is not. Do I have to do some new setting in Outlook 2003 to
that these messages can come through?

Are the messages showing up in your Junk E-mail folder? Do you have web
based access to your mailbox where you can see if they are indeed making it
to the server?

The messages are not going to my Junk folder. I can look at messages online
with my email provider (Covad). They stay on the Covad server until I open
Outlook, at which time they come down to my computer. The messages are not
reaching the Covad email box either.

Ok, I'm a little confused.

When you look at the messages online, these messages that Outlook doesn't
show you, are they showing up or not?

If they aren't showing up when you look at your mailbox outside of Outlook,
that pretty much rules out Outlook (and whatever update you installed) as
the problem, I'd think.

I know this isn't the right venue for this but I'll save you some research;

In O.E 6 - Tools / Options / Security (tab) / Uncheck "Block images and
other external content in HTML e-mail"

Hope That Helps
Jim

Uhhhh, Jim, I might be a wee bit un-sober, but... err.. He isn't running OE.
And, if understood what he just said, the messages aren't even appearing at
his ISP if he uses a web based reader.

So, well, I'm not really sure what giving him the steps to unblock external
content, which is a tremendous security risk, will actuall accomplish, since
*he* *isn't* *using* *oe*.

I see what you mean. Since my web-based mailbox access is also not receiving
the messages, it's doubtful that my Outlook is at fault. It is suspicious
that the day I did a Microsoft update, I quit getting these. My ISP (Covad)
says it's not their issue, because I am receiving other emails OK, and the
sender is not on their spammer blocked list. I'm not sure what to check next.

Correlation, unfortunately, does not prove causation. Coincidences happen
far more often then we like to think.

That said, try having the multilinkon.com email sent to hotmail or gmail to
ensure that any delivery works. Once you're sure it's working to one email
provider but not another, contact their support and try to determine what is
happening. I'm assuming your service with them isn't free, so I'd wager
they have some support options for you to take advantage of. If I was on
their end, what I would do is see what happens with regular email, see if
any bounces are happening when sending to Covad, see if the messages are
sticking in the queue for some reason.

As Covad says, you are getting other messages, so it isn't necessarily their
fault, however, I wouldn't be so quick to say it is definitely not their
fault. You know how long it regularly takes for a voicemail to reach their
system, so find out if they are willing to watch for inbound connections
from multilinkon.com (if you have any of the older messages, you may need to
send them the smtp headers so they can see exactly where the messages are
coming from) and then send yourself a voicemail.
