cannot run macros in word

I am able to record macros in a word document and use them while I'm in that
document, but after saving and closing, when I go back into the doc and try
to run the macros I get the following message: "Microsoft Visual Basic - The
macros in this project are diabled. Please refer to the online help or
documentation of the host application to determine how to enable". I have
tried to lower the security level temporarily to see if that works and it
doesn't. These are very simple macros I'm using. Can anyone help?

If you save macros in the document, you need to set the macro security level
to medium, which will give you a prompt to accept the macros. I they are
saved in the template, you should tell Word's security to trust installed
templates and add-ins. The simplicity of the macros or otherwise is
irrelevant. You will probably need to restart Word after making the changes
to the security.
