cannot save presentation with password on one computer

Has anyone come across this problem? We have one computer with PowerPoint
2003, that when we go to File->Save As, select Tools->Security Options, enter
a password to Modify, click OK, enter it again and click Save, the file is
not saved? Tried several times, even with new presentations, same thing. The
title bar does not have the new file name and if we go to close the file it
asks if we want to save changes. If we remove the password, and click Save
then it saves just fine. Other computers do not seem to have the same
problem...

Thanks!!

I think I would try two things. First ensure that SP 1 has been applied (go to
Help > Check for Updates and follow the links for updates) and if that doesn't
change things then I would do a "Detect and Repair".

Hi,

Click on Tools, Options, Edit Tab and see if Disable New Features, Password
Protection is checked.

Maybe because if you exit PowerPoint after it's been disabled, the password
feature is greyed out when you come back in, so it's unlikely that's the
problem unless they really do need a Detect & Repair, which you said to do.
But hey, it's worth a look.

Hi,

I am grappling with a problem from a user with the same problem. I tried
checking the tools options, detect and repair and also service packs. Still
no solution.
