cannot send message from IE6 unless outlook is open

Hello to all,
I have found that if I am in IE6 and choose send a link, new message or send
page the message will not be sent unless outlook 2003 is open. The message
will wait to be sent until I do open outlook 2003. I would like to be able
to simply send a link at times without having outlook open for the process
to complete.

Not possible, you must have the application open for it to work.
