Cannot type in a downloaded document

I downloaded a word document form, I wish to type in. I don't know why it will not let me type in it. How can I turn this function off.

Is it a form? Try the form toolbar and see if the "lock" is on. If so,
click it off and it should work. Hope that helps...

Downloaded from where?

Which version of Word are you using?

I assume you don't have similar problems with other documents.

If you go to your Tools menu are many choices disabled? Is there an option
to "Unprotect Document?" If so, see what happens if you choose it.
