Can't add email addresses or send to email addresses

C

Corrinna J.

I am trying to add contacts into my Address Book. It
saves what I enter into the fields, except for the Email
address. Everytime I enter an email address, then tab to
next field or click "Save and Close", the email address
disappears.

In addition, if I type an email address in the "To" field
of a new message, a box comes up that says "Outlook does
not recognize one or more names". I shouldn't have to
enter an email address into my Contacts list in order to
send an email.

Does any of this have to do with my Microsoft Exchange
Server??

Please help!!

Entries are made in the Contacts Folder, not the address book.
Is that what you're doing?

Corrinna,

What Russ is trying to say is that you need to understand
that the Address Book and Contacts are now two separate
things in Outlook. You get to your Address Book by going
Tools Address Book, your Contacts are in the pane on the
left.
Hope that helps!

No, I was trying to say that the Outlook Address Book is merely a view of
the Contacts Folder--so they are the same thing. But the correct interface
for data entry is the Contacts Folder, not the Address Book view.
The only separate Address Book Outlook used was the Personal Address Book
which has not been in general use for years since it was replaced by the
Outlook Address Book.
