Can't Create New Web In Front Page

D

Darrell

Hi I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am trying to create a new web in
FrontPage 2000 just as I have many times before. Now, when I clicke "new web"
I am now getting this error message:

Unable to create a disk-based web at "C: Documents and
Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Webs" because its parent web would not
be a disk-based web. Create the disk-based web elsewhere, outside of your web
servers document hierarchy.

More info about my system:
I have a XP Windows operating system.
I have my computer networked to my other home computer.
To my knowledge, I have never operated my computer as a server. Why is
FronPage now giving me these errors?

In the popup panel that asks for the location, add a backslash and a folder name for your new web to
the file path like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Webs\mynewweb

FrontPage will then create a new web folder with the name mynewweb inside of the My Webs folder.

Steve... I am still getting the same error message. I used to be able to
click new web and Frontpage would create a new web for me that I would rename
what I wanted it to be. Now, I can't create a new web at all. It seems that
Front page is looking at my computer as though it were a server or something.
I really need help on this.

Just create a folder on your HD, then open in FP, FP will prompt you to let it make it a web / site,
say yes.

If you want to create a subweb/site under a current web/site, then create a folder, then right click
the folder and select convert to web / site.
