can't delete toxic email

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: pop

I received an email from a trusted source (and have received others from them since with no problem) but it seems to be corrupted. When I highlight it, everything freezes. Can't force quit Entourage, can't do anything, have to force restart. As long as I don't touch it, there's no problem, but I want to get rid of it.

This is Janehere again. I should have looked in the database first as instructed! Found the same question with Ed Kimball's answer of September 11, 2009. Tried it and it worked like a charm. Thanks!
